Virginia vs. Syracuse — Under 54
What happened to the Virginia offense? Where is the team that scored nearly 35 per game in 2021 and threw for 385 yards a game? The quarterback is still there in Brendan Armstrong, but he may wish he went through the magic portal and beamed out of Charlottesville. After all, that’s what a good chunk of the coaching staff did on their way to of all places, Syracuse. But those coaches weren’t responsible for pass protection, and the players that are supposed to look out for him are doing their best imitation of a Disney World turn-style right now. The result has been 14 points scored against Old Dominion and 3 against Illinois the week prior. A trip to the Carrier Dome isn’t going to help. Syracuse has been playing lights out, going 3-0 and covering each. They shut down Malik Cunningham and Louisville in a Week One victory, 31-7, and beat Purdue in a thriller last week 32-29. That game was cruising towards the under with a score of 10-9 going into the 4th before the fireworks started. We see the ‘Cuse leaning on their ground game and Virginia continuing to struggle behind one of the worst O-lines in the Power Five.
We’ll play the under 54, which we can currently find at Bovada.
