NCAAF Week 3: Free Plays (3-Pack)

Rutgers (–18) vs. Temple2 units

Temple is going to be a team to fade all season.  In 2021, the Owls gave up 21 points more than they scored per game.  Yikes.  The Rutgers team they play Saturday hung 61 on them in their 2021 season opener.  To open ‘22, Temple was shut out by Duke 30-0.  They do come into this one-off-a-win, but that was against Lafayette, one of the worst teams in the FCS.  Rutgers has posted wins in their first two games, including a road win at Boston College in which they gave up one yard per carry to the Eagles.  Temple will struggle to put points up in this one and Rutgers should dominate.  We’ll lay the wood with the Scarlet Knights.  Most shops are dealing 18.5 including our friends at BetUS.

Mississippi St. (-2.5) vs. LSU2 units

Don’t look now but Mike Leach has his Mississippi St Bulldogs playing some of the best football in the country.  QB Will Rogers leads the nation in completions per game running Leach’s Air Raid offense.  They have convincing victories over FBS teams Memphis and Arizona.  LSU took out its frustrations from a crazy loss to Florida State on Southern last week, routing the Jaguars 65-17.  Both teams bring in offensive lines with big question marks but we believe that the Bulldogs are better equipped to take advantage, especially with LSU losing top D lineman Maason Smith for the season.  In their 3rd year in Leach’s system, Miss State has found its groove in the Air Raid and their D, with nine returning starters, will be too much for LSU.  Lay the short number and join us in getting behind the Dogs at –2.5.  Play it at BetOnline.

Georgia (–24.5) vs. South Carolina2 units

In the final game of our 3 pack, we’ll lay another favorite and get behind the best team in the country, namely the Georgia Bulldogs.  We’ll rarely lay this many points, especially on the road in conference, but if you want to get behind this Georgia team, you’re going to have to pay a premium price.  For us, though, this pick is more about fading the Gamecocks than it is supporting Georgia.  South Carolina is coming off a fourteen-point loss to Arkansas, a game in which they gave up 300 yards rushing.  Their defensive line?  Not good.  To make matters worse, the offensive line gave up 6 sacks against the Hogs and were only able to muster a little over a yard per rushing attempt.  Also, not good.  The Georgia Bulldogs are literally the last team in the nation you want to face when your line play is in crisis mode.  South Carolina will be lucky to put ten points on the board.  If Georgia isn’t busy still scoring on Oregon, they’ll roll here.  Lay it with the Dogs.  Check out our friends at MyBookie to cash a ticket on the defending champs.
