It’s not hard to see why the odds are even here. The defending Stanley Cup champions, Colorado Avalanche (3-2-1) and New York Rangers (3-2-1) are two of the league’s most elite teams who also have some early season issues to work through. On any given day, either one of them can win this game, hence the near-coinflip betting odds.

With that being said, I’m riding with the New York Rangers on the moneyline (+100). The Rangers will have the home-ice advantage, while the Avalanche travels across the country and are still missing their captain, Gabriel Landeskog, for the next 3 months as he recovers from knee surgery. So, in the first battle between all-world goalies Igor Shesterkin and Alexandar Georgiev, I would expect Shesterkin to come out of this game with the “W”.
