For our first free play of the week, we will look to a Friday night football matchup of two teams that have struggled this season. Louisiana Tech visits FIU in a game that has seen some line movement in favor of the Golden Panthers and has seen the total tick down a couple of points.
The reason for the movement is the quarterback situation for Louisiana Tech. Starter Parker McNeil was hurt early in the Bulldogs’ one-point loss to Rice. Later in the game, backup Matthew Downing also went down to an injury that will end his season. While LA Tech deals with potentially starting a 3rd string QB, FIU found some defense last week as they manhandled Charlotte 34-15 as 13-and-a-half-point road dogs. Charlotte was kept off the scoreboard until the 4th quarter.
Prediction: Given the Tech quarterback dilemma and FIU’s offense that only averages 18 points per game, we think points will be hard to come by and we’ll play under the total of 57.5 at BetOnline.
