If you are a VIPicks subscriber, you know that two weeks ago we won several games by playing unders in heavy wind conditions. Two teams involved in those games were Northwestern and Purdue, who face off in West Lafayette on Saturday. With the help of the nasty conditions, Northwestern held Ohio State’s top-ranked offense to only 13 first downs and 76 yards passing in a 21-7 loss. The game never threatened the total of 55, going under by 27 points. Meanwhile, Purdue’s offense was shut down and held to three points by Iowa, with blustery conditions having a dubious effect on the Purdue offense. This week we will see more of the same with winds in the 20 mph range and gusts in the 30s. As an added bonus, we get a Northwestern offense that can’t get it going, no matter the weather conditions. The ‘Cats have scored seven points or fewer in four of their last six.
