NHL (1/3): Hurricanes vs. Rangers – Preview & Best Free Pick

Tuesday’s NHL slate of action opens up with a 2022 Eastern Conference playoff rematch as the blazing-hot Carolina Hurricanes (25-6-6) take on the New York Rangers (20-12-6) in the “World’s Most Famous Arena”, Madison Square Garden. New York won last year’s playoff series in seven games, but the Blue Shirts were eventually knocked out by the Lightning in the Conference Finals. This will be the first time these top-tier divisional foes square off this season and once again, there will be a lot on the line.

Carolina is checking all of the boxes during its 11-game winning streak and in the 17 straight games without a regulation loss… and a win on Tuesday would move the Hurricanes into the top 10 for the longest winning streak in NHL history. Also, their 56 points are good enough for the lead in the Metropolitan Division, and only the Boston Bruins have more points (62) at this stage of the season. While the Rangers are by no means a mediocre team (4th in Metropolitan Division – 46 points), they’re simply just not as good of a unit as they were last season – and in our opinion, not on the same level as this scorching hot Canes’ team is right now. Seeing that they’ve been absolutely dominant as of late, we’ll take advantage of this opportunity to lay such a short moneyline number (-123) at BetOnline for the Carolina Hurricanes to win their 12th straight.

Prediction: Hurricanes ML (-123)
