Jacksonville State plays in its first game as a member of the FBS and they’ll start by hosting a conference game against fellow Conference USA member UTEP.
We’re surprised to see this game set as a virtual toss-up. There is a real talent mismatch in this game. UTEP returns 4 starters on their O-line, two of which are first team all conference players. This is bad news for a smallish JSU front seven. On the other side of the ball, the Miners bring back arguably the best defender in C-USA in DE Praise Amawhule who led a defense that ranked number 2 in the conference against the run.
UTEP’s advantages in the trenches will be impossible for the Gamecocks of Jacksonville St to overcome. We’ll lay the short number at MyBookie and start the college football season joining Miner Nation looking for a win. UTEP – 1 for two units.
