Don’t overthink the preseason. If we see an advantage in the quarterback rotation for one team over another, we want to make a move.
The Packers and new starting signal caller Jordan Love travel to Cincinnati for their first taste of preseason action. The Pack opened as 1.5 point chalk with linesmakers and the public knowing that Joe Burrow won’t play due to injury but Jordan Love will go. How much time Love will see though is up in the air. Our guess is it won’t be more than two series, given that these teams scrimmaged earlier in the week and the Packers certainly won’t want to expose Love more than they need to.
When Love does hand the reins to the backups, he’ll be giving them to rookie Sean Clifford and USFL’er Alex McGough. This is not the NFL’s best QB room. Cincy on the other hand will turn to Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning. Neither guy will ever don a gold jacket unless they take a job with Century 21, but they are both veterans and Siemien has starting experience.
The Bengals got the best of the Pack in the scrimmage this week and we think it carries over here. This line has moved to 4 on the news that the Bengals won’t play most of their starters – not exactly big news in today’s NFL. We’ll take the home team, the better QB room, and a handful of points, thank you.
