Rams vs CHARGERS (-168) — 2 units

If you’re wondering why the Super Bowl champion LA Rams open the preseason as 3-and-a-half point dogs to their roommate LA Chargers, here is your answer. Sean McVay doesn’t play his starters in the preseason. Like, none of ‘em.
The folks in Vegas are well aware of this and are going to make us pay a price to fade the preseason version of the Rams. Incidentally, the Rams are 6-9 under McVay in the preseason.
What really sells us on picking against the Rams in this spot is their QB rotation after Matthew Stafford. Under center Saturday night the Rams will feature John Wolford, Bryce Perkins, and Luis Perez. This group will only visit Canton, OH if they are there on a layover.
The Chargers rotation isn’t much better after Justin Herbert who we can expect to see little, maybe no action. At least they boast a veteran in Chase Daniel who should see quite a bit of time.
Preseason games are inherently lower scoring and laying points is something we are wary of in these matchups. Therefore, we’ll bet against McVay and the Rams in this spot and take the Bolts on the moneyline at -168, which you can currently find at Bovada.
